Generating Tracking Codes

Create unique QR codes for Direct Mail campaigns

Applies to: Direct Mail campaigns

Static campaigns use a single QR code and don't need code generation. This guide is for DM campaigns where each mail piece gets a unique tracked QR code.

How Tracking Codes Work

Each tracking code generates a unique QR code for a mail piece. When scanned:

  • Scan is recorded — You know which specific mail piece was scanned
  • Recipient is directed to your landing page — Your branded offer page with registration form
  • Registration links back to the scan — Full traceability from mail piece to lead to voucher
  • Voucher issued on registration — The recipient gets their unique voucher code after signing up
💡 Scans without registration are still tracked

Even if someone scans the QR code but doesn't complete the registration form, the scan is still recorded. This gives you response rate data regardless of conversion.

Generating Codes

Step 1: Open Your Campaign

Navigate to your Direct Mail campaign dashboard.

Step 2: Find DM Tracking Codes

Look for the DM Tracking Codes section on the campaign page.

Step 3: Set Quantity

Enter the number of codes you need — one per mail piece.

Limits: Up to 10,000 codes per batch. Need more? Generate multiple batches.

Step 4: Optional Prefix

Add a prefix to organise codes by mailing:

  • No prefix: A7K3M2X9P2
  • With prefix "JAN": JANA7K3M2X9
  • With prefix "FEB26": FEB26X9P2Q4R8

Prefixes are limited to 6 characters, letters and numbers only.

Step 5: Generate

Click Generate Tracking Codes. Codes are created instantly — even 10,000 takes just a few seconds.

Exporting for Print

After generating, export the codes for your print production:

📄 CSV Only

Spreadsheet with tracking codes and URLs. Use if your print software generates QR codes.

  • • tracking_code
  • • tracking_url
  • • created_at
📦 ZIP Bundle

CSV plus a folder of print-ready QR code images (300 DPI PNG).

  • • tracking_codes.csv
  • • qr_codes/JANA7K3M2.png
  • • qr_codes/JANB8L4N3.png ...

QR Code Sizes

When exporting as ZIP, choose your QR code size:

Size Dimensions Best For
Small 20mm × 20mm Business cards, small labels
Medium 30mm × 30mm Postcards, letters
Large 40mm × 40mm A5 flyers, posters

All exports are 300 DPI — suitable for professional print.

Generating More Codes

Need more codes for the same campaign? No problem:

  1. Go back to DM Tracking Codes
  2. Enter the additional quantity needed
  3. Generate again

New codes are added to the same campaign. You can generate multiple batches over time — useful for ongoing or follow-up mailings.

💡 Pro Tip

Generate a few extra codes (5-10%) as buffer for print errors or reprints. Unused codes don't cost anything — they just sit there until scanned.
