Hospitality Restrictions

Set the right terms and conditions for your offers

Why Use Restrictions?

Restrictions help you:

  • Protect margins β€” Limit discounts to quieter periods
  • Manage capacity β€” Control party sizes
  • Drive specific behaviour β€” Encourage midweek visits
  • Set expectations β€” Clear terms reduce disputes

Available Restrictions

Minimum Spend

Require a minimum bill value before the discount applies.

Example

"20% off when you spend Β£30 or more"

Tip: Set minimum spend slightly below your average ticket to encourage extra ordering without feeling restrictive.

Valid Days

Choose which days of the week the offer is valid:

  • Mon–Thu (common for hospitality)
  • Weekdays only
  • Weekends only
  • Specific days (e.g., Tuesday only)
  • Every day (no restriction)
πŸ’‘ Common Pattern

Most hospitality offers exclude Friday and Saturday evenings β€” your busiest times when you don't need the discount to fill seats.

Valid Hours

Limit the offer to specific time windows:

Lunch Service

12:00 – 15:00

Early Dinner

17:00 – 19:00

All Day

No time restriction

Happy Hour

16:00 – 18:00

Maximum Party Size

Limit how many people can use one voucher:

  • 2 people β€” Ideal for date night offers
  • 4 people β€” Small groups / families
  • 6 people β€” Standard table size
  • No limit β€” Any size party
⚠️ Consider capacity

Large party limits (8+) can cause problems if multiple voucher holders arrive at once. Consider if you can handle several big tables.

Exclusions

Specify what's excluded from the discount:

  • Drinks / Alcohol only
  • Set menus / tasting menus
  • Delivery / takeaway
  • Specific premium items

Custom Terms

Add any other conditions in free text:

  • "Not valid on bank holidays"
  • "Booking required"
  • "Cannot be used with other offers"
  • "One voucher per table"
  • "Subject to availability"

How Restrictions Appear

Restrictions are shown clearly at two points:

  1. Landing page β€” When customer claims the voucher
  2. Redemption screen β€” When staff verify the voucher

Staff see a checklist format showing each restriction, making it easy to verify at a glance.

πŸ’‘ Keep It Simple

Too many restrictions can put customers off. Aim for 2-3 key terms that protect your margins without making the offer feel complicated.
