Direct Mail Campaigns
Tracked QR codes for print โ see who scans, capture registrations, issue vouchers
Use DM campaigns when you're sending physical mail (postcards, letters, leaflets) and want to track which specific recipients respond. Each mail piece gets a unique QR code that directs the recipient to your landing page.
How It Works
Each mail piece has a unique tracking QR code. When someone scans it:
- The scan is tracked โ you know which mail piece was scanned, even if they don't register
- They land on your campaign offer page with your branding and offer details
- They register with their email and details
- They receive their unique voucher code on screen and by email
You capture the recipient's details (email, name, consent) before they get the voucher. This gives you marketing permission and a direct communication channel โ not just an anonymous scan.
Creating a DM Campaign
1. Start a New Campaign
From your dashboard, click New Campaign and select ๐ฌ Direct Mail.
2. Configure the Offer
Enter your campaign details:
- Campaign Name โ e.g., "January 2026 Postcard Drop"
- Offer Headline โ What appears on the landing page (e.g., "20% Off Your First Visit")
- Offer Description โ Supporting details about the offer
- Discount Type & Value โ The actual discount recipients will receive
- Valid From/Until โ Campaign dates
3. Customise the Landing Page
The landing page is what recipients see after scanning. Customise it with:
- Your logo โ Appears at the top of the page
- Accent colour โ Matches your branding
- Consent text โ The marketing opt-in wording
- Registration fields โ Choose which fields to collect (email, name, mobile, postcode, etc.)
4. Set Terms & Conditions
Add any restrictions that apply to the offer. These are shown on the landing page and to staff when redeeming.
5. Create the Campaign
Click Create Campaign. You'll be taken to the campaign dashboard where you can generate tracking codes for your mailing.
Generating Tracking Codes
Once your campaign is created, generate the unique QR codes for each mail piece.
1. Open DM Tracking Codes
On your campaign dashboard, find the DM Tracking Codes section.
2. Set Quantity
Enter the number of codes you need โ one per mail piece. You can generate up to 10,000 codes at once.
3. Optional: Add Code Prefix
Add a prefix to make codes easier to identify (e.g., "JAN" for your January mailing).
4. Generate
Click Generate Tracking Codes. The codes are created instantly.
Exporting for Print
You have two export options:
Download a CSV with tracking codes and URLs. Use this if your print software generates QR codes from URLs.
Download a ZIP containing CSV plus a folder of print-ready QR code images (300 DPI PNG).
Mail Merge Workflow
- Export your tracking codes (CSV or ZIP with QR images)
- Open your design software (InDesign, Canva, etc.)
- Set up mail merge with the CSV
- Link the QR code field to images from the ZIP (or generate from URL)
- Each mail piece gets a different QR code
- Send to print!
Generate 5-10% more codes than your mailing quantity as buffer for print errors or reprints. Unused codes don't cost anything.
Tracking Responses
As recipients scan their QR codes, you'll see real-time stats on your dashboard:
- Tracking Codes Generated โ Total mail pieces with unique QR codes
- QR Scans โ How many mail pieces have been scanned (even without registration)
- Leads Captured โ Registrations with email and consent
- Vouchers Issued โ Voucher codes given to registered recipients
- Redemptions โ Vouchers actually used in-store
- Response Rate โ Scans รท Codes Generated
- Conversion Rate โ Registrations รท Scans
With tracked QR codes, you can see the full funnel: Mail sent โ QR scanned โ Registered โ Voucher used. This tells you not just who responded, but where people drop off โ invaluable for optimising future campaigns.
